Dance Workshops For Schools

Pedralta World Fusion Dance workshops for schools, colleges, youth clubs and community groups

Engaging and inspirational workshops that encourage creativity and teamwork

I teach an ideal style for beginner dancers, involving learning a vocabulary of moves and then improvising together as a group. Dancers gain confidence quickly, creating their own dances together during a first workshop. It encourages teamwork and eye contact, and is a highly sociable style to learn. Alternatively, I can teach a short, simple choreographed dance. Both styles suit all body types and abilities and can be adapted to incorporate those with limitations.

I am focused on developing and nurturing your students’ self-esteem, confidence, and curiosity, and I aim to create an environment where they are surrounded by positivity. They will have an opportunity to express themselves in something a little bit different that will build their team spirit in a non-competitive activity. I teach children with a range of abilities in one class, and your children can work at their appropriate level.

Below are some of the organisations I have worked with, providing classes, workshops or performances:

A Typical Workshop

  • Introduction to the background and style of dance
  • Dance warm up
  • I will teach either a short sequence or a full dance routine, depending on the workshop length
  • Pupils like to be able to express themselves, so for the longer sessions they can learn a short vocabulary of moves to improvise within small groups.
  • Performance: Either to the rest of the group at the end of each session, or a bigger performance to some other classes in assembly – this gives the pupils something to work towards and great ending to the session
  • Cool down and stretch to end

A typical workshop usually lasts for 1.5-2 hours. In that time your students will learn the foundations of the dance style and a little about its history.

Why Book Direct?

Rather than booking through an agency, going through a third party, you can arrange your workshops directly with me. This allows you to achieve the very best experience for you and your children. I will work with you to create something truly memorable.

What will it Cost?

My minimum booking fee is £110 (plus travel from Weston-Super-Mare) for the first hour, then £80 per hour thereafter. Schools usually book between 2 to 4 hrs, depending on content and the number of sessions. You can choose a project for a whole week or a few consecutive days and end it in a performance. I can create performances pieces to be shown in competitions, at recitals or simply for parents to see what progress their children have made.
